We Celebrate Childhood
A Note From Our Founder
When my daughter was 3 and in a traditional learning environment, she struggled. Instead of a peaceful, loving, and relaxed environment, she experienced the stress-inducing, forced structure of a traditional preschool. Instead of nurturing a close bond with the teacher, she got lost in the sea of students all vying for attention.
I had a decision to make. I chose to leave my strong career, so I could give my daughter the emotional support she needed daily. At home with me full time, she thrived. The difference was truly remarkable. When Kindergarten came around, she was ready - emotionally, academically, and socially.
I realized this level of attentiveness was only possible for working parents who could hire a nanny, private tutor, or stay home. But what about everyone else? And how about parents who want to provide a vibrant, exploration-rich environment with opportunities they simply don't have available to them? And what about parents who understand the importance of emotional intelligence, but don't yet feel confident teaching these concepts on their own?
That's when The Institute for Mindful Learning was born. Here, we follow a research-based approach to learning. We apply concepts from neuroscience and childhood brain development to create an atmosphere where the whole child will thrive.
Traditional schools too often push for academic achievement before the real foundations for education have even been laid. But not in our space. We believe every child deserves to be, well, a child. In doing so, they will reap the benefits of dedicated attention, mindfulness, real world problem-solving, hours of outdoor play ... and lots and lots of free-range, real-life learning.
